trigger, that's such a great idea... in fact, many of us have had it in the past, and we have made use of it on multiple occations.
back when we first started dropping monsters on TA, none of the currently dropped items there were dropped, but only those which were not sellable at the market (silvers, alien whatsitsnames, tense, universal keys, etc). and during that stage, we did drop an alien scientist so we could go gather more whatsitsnames, making more room in our packs. since then, a programming change has occured (happened when the first square was available for populating monsters in the north city), and now *only* sellable items are dropped by repopulated monsters.
so now, obviously our objective changed with dropping monsters. we can no longer increase our pack size, but we can gain rare items... for the most part. the idea of hydragen-carbids has come up many times before, but unfortunately, the monster can only be populated in the caverns, and there are no caverns on TA. but we have had a vampiric herb square, we've had earthspells (more for money than for the item), we've had picture tubes, alien gadgets and contraptions, dragon horns, and probably a few others i've forgotten. but like all good things, each of these has come to an end. some seem to be an accidental end when monstalogists drop other monsters there now knowing we're trying to preserve the square... but some seem almost intentional (though that's just an opinion... we can't prove it was intentional).
anyway, if you've got an item or two that you think would serve the community well, put your vote in. we still have one completely unpopulated square that we're saving in case another item comes into great demand. and probably within a month, we'll have 2 more squares open up in the north end of the city for 2 more strategic releases. if others (especially monstalogists of appropriate lvl's) agree with suggestions that are made, we'll work towards populating monsters to help us all.
