Does anyone know the point of this item? I've tried it and can't see any great advantage over the emerald mail shirt of level 30. My character is a pure mage 48 IQ, 48 persistence and 48 quickness.

I struggled with this as well when I was your level. Basically, as far as I know, the wizard robe is a high priced recipe item with no intrinsic value as armor. I'm level 50 and have found no other use for it other than recipes.
you will need it the first time with level 40 - so sell it now on the market you will need the money now ;-)
