In the last few days I have played 7 games against real players where I was suddenly disconnected and ultimately lost. During that same period of time I played nearly 80 games against “guests” and was never disconnected. Is there something going on here or is this just a very unfortunate occurrence? Kinda sucks to lose 50 rating points after being ahead in all of those games.

Sorry to hear you’ve been experiencing disconnections, that can definitely be frustrating, especially during competitive games. You’re not alone in this. There’s currently an ongoing issue related to FlyOrDie switching from HTTP to HTTPS, which has been causing random disconnections for some users. This has been on ongoing problem for months!!! They will not resolve it. Many people have left and find a new game.

Saying “they will not resolve it” is misleading. The issue is known, documented, and under investigation, with fixes already being tested across different platforms. If you want to help improve the situation, providing your browser and device details is far more useful than discouraging comments.

I have provided the information requested. However, I’m now thinking the problem is being misrepresented. I can play against guests for hours and never be disconnected. So I once again try to play an opponent. At some point I am disconnected and lose. Why has my opponent never been disconnected and I receive points? I’m seeing players who have greatly benefited and now have way more rating points than before. They seem to know who to target. Very disappointing.
You’re not being targeted, just two days ago (15th July), you were awarded points when your opponent lost connection. These issues stem from the site’s ongoing server transition, and disconnections are not deliberate or personal. This will be the end of the conversation in this thread.
