I've come back to FOD after a 15+ years absence. My first observation is while the game is still fun, and still has great potential, there seems to be little camaraderie and no real sense of community. A lot of defensiveness, bitterness and completely unwarranted toxicity though. I think FOD can have a revival, and I think it'll take community building. Turn your top users into ambassadors. Talk to them, update them. Open a discord server. Be active on socials. Promote them. Forget about over-moderating and instead foster this sense of community. There's hope! It's a great game!

The "world outside" has changed too.(speaking of the western world, where I live) Its also not the world it was 15 years ago. And (most) people are different these days. In my opinion this is not a FlyOrDie related phenomenon.
