Larkinor Poetry Competition!
Larkinor Poetry Competition!
The challenge: Write a poem related to digging.

The rules: One entry per person (not per account). Include the name of the character you want to receive the prize on. Poems can be written in any form, rhyming or not rhyming. Entries must be posted by January 31. If english is not your first language and you prefer to write in another, post your poem anyhow and a translation (if you can).

The judging: As with any art form, poetry is subjective. Poems will be judged based on content, humor, imagery, rhythm, and other factors.

The prizes: Extra backpack space for your digger (i.e. antigrav thingies). First, second, third: 5kg, 2kg, 1kg. Plus a special grand prize:

There once was a man from a hovel,
Who wanted to write a novel,
He got writers' block
And went for a walk,
Then tripped on a diamond shovel.

Let me know if you have any questions. Have fun and good luck to everyone!
I've already distributed them and I can't un-distribute thingies. Sorry.
Please could I have the anti gravs on ompalompa instead of pure fluke
Thanks kristal. Olive should find her winnings in her home now.
Thanks ezekial,
Olive lvl.63
Thanks Zeke! 7 years of waiting and I finally have the shovel....subscribing now and clicking, clicking, clicking......:D
I really liked all your poems and it was a tough decision. So, there's a tie for the grand prize.

Diamond shovels went to Misko and Tyler.
50 anti-grav thingies to kms.
20 anti-grav thingies to kristal.

Your diggers should find the items in their homes (except kristal - that char doesn't exist as spelled and I'm not sure who you want your thingies on).
Should my flu-poem emerge the victor, my character's name is Simon the Digger. :p
We burrow and excavate, endlessly we toil;
Searching for treasures in the thick, loamy soil.
Helplessly we watch, as our tools of the trade falter
Our discarded, shattered spades forming an altar.

TINK!
... the pitiful, familiar sound of terrestrial battle:
Echoed my expendable shovel's death rattle.
"Why me?" I lamented, and departed once more
For my destination, the general store.

To avoid the alert below, I shamelessly grovel
You've hit a hard rock and spoiled your shovel.

My sadness and despair are my only blight...
Please listen, and consider my plight!

An unyielding shovel shall be my sole request:
For now I am barred from my quest
What awaited me?! How could I have guessed?
An army of monsters, to the west.
Poor tyler. I'll accept your entry tomorrow. You never know; flu-inspired poetry might be surprisingly good.

While most of the world is in February, I'm still living in January for another 2.5 hours. If anyone has any last-minute entries, now would be the time to get them in.
is it ok if i ask for a 1 day extension? i have the flu :(
Pure Fluke packs his sack
With rusty shovels on his back

Across the sea to TA island
With dreams of rubies and of diamonds

As he clicks he lets out a sigh
Another shovel just said goodbye

And despite the healing spell
The lack of mana means he does not feel well

But perhaps one thing could ease his suffering
The Larki Gods could make an offering

He's heard of a mystical spade
An object for which no sum can be paid

It cannot be built or bought or stole
But digs and digs, hole after hole

His heart shudders and shakes
He's heard perhaps it never breaks

Other benefits he does not know
But what it digs would surely glow

Can you make this dream a reality?
Or must he continue living in depravity?
It doesn't matter which character you choose to receive your prize on, just so long as you list a character (cough, Misko).
Silvers I have
could fill a pool :p

To put valuable stones
on the market
that's diggers rule :)

To have a second diamond shovel
that would be wonderful tool :D

Having extra backpack space
that would be cool B-)

-kristal
Are we allowed to receive the antigravs on any character we choose, or does it have to go the digger? :p
Just realized that my subscription expired. So once again i'm in my annual dilemma. Let's see if this help me to decide. :)

A man with no will to click,
Thousands of broken shovels,
His account at the bank thick,
Writing meaningless novels.

No further levels to go for,
No fancy houses to rob,
No one to steal from,
Get him back to his job.

Extra space is not his issue
Looking for diamond shovel
He hopes you like this novel
Otherwise he will miss you…
