ok im a pure fighter for the most part, i belive i got maghic so i could do the elemental mission and for manpoints for making weps.

what i dont get is that ive just killed an expreienced earthmage and my magic skill went up one...

this is strange for two reasons.

1. i dont use magic in combat and havent since i was about level 5 ish
2. i know full well i used a range wep then my melee or i wouldnt have killed the monster as quick.

anyone help me out here>?
You probably put a point into intel. If your magic is 100%+,then you put a point into intel, you do not need to use the magic for to to rise.
nope intyel has stayed the same for a while. my characters not levelled for some time now. just aiming for it now so i can do the njonjos mission
if you cast homeport, the health or the man spell then this increases your magic level also...
ah that may be it, i was castin healing spell previously, i though only combat mag increased it. thanks for that :)
Do magical weapons affect ur mage lvl?
doubtful, i think only anything where you cast a spell will do it. having said that will MAKING magical weapons increase it as thatsa use of mana?
Anytime you use manapoints, it adds to your %. Maybe not a lot, but it does.
except making building stones
so constant use of a senseball will inevitabally raise magic level?
Please make an attempt at looking in the forum for the answers to your questions before you post.

TeT
thanks for the link but just wondering. manfountain im guessing will increase your magic skill yet it itself is not a use of manas. you are scarificing hp in order to gain it. this is correct right?
Ok, I gave you the link to the other thread for a reason. Had you bothered to click it, you would have seen the answer to your question miraculously appear on your screen. That is why I, and others, have asked you to please check first. The forum is a great sorce of information, and most of it is already here. There is absolutely NO NEED for you to continue to repost topics that have already been covered. What it does is waste time, and frustrate people. There is a nifty little option called 'search forum'. Try it. It works. If you have a question that you just cannot find in help or the forums, by all means ask here. Just please don't use it to chat, or to ask repetitive questions.

I do hope this made sense, I tend to ramble when I'm irked.

TeT
i did read it the question i asked wasnt there. it said all the special spell which use mana. manafountain does not...

i do tend to read at least the first 3 or 4 pages before posting a topic to make sure its not been covered recently
"FOr example you could sit outside your house and continually cast the
manafountain
and heal spells for a months, then attack a single monster to raise the skill level."

So, this is just to help you out. This came from the link I gave you. It did answer your question. You just needed to look for it.

And instead of looking on the first 3-4 pages, you need to use the search tool.

TeT
Well after all that, a little experimentation reveals that manafountain does not raise your magic skill. I cast it 10 times in a row with a relatively new character and my percentage didn't raise at all. I cast heal once, and my percent jumped up by 8%. I ran the test again, this time casting manafountain 20 times instead of just 10, and I still did not experience any increase in my magic skill percentage. I then cast heal once as I did in the first test and experienced the same 8% jump.

Excellent question!

Sandy
thanks sandy. guess you cant count on everything you read in here eh?

and im sorry for not noticing that earlier tet. i honestly did read that thread and it answered about 3 of the questions but i didnt see that line you graciausly quoted.

once again my apoligies :)
The point about casting manafountain and heal is that you can do it indefinitely since one replenishes the mana needed to cast the other, and vice versa.

Exactly. Although, since it is still a spell, most people (myself included) expected manafountain to still use SOME mana, just less than the amount it generated! I guess when you're using your own blood as a spell component the Larki gods could care less about your mana!
