hi can anybody tell me how to delete the processes which are not needed. because after a while my CPU usage goes to 100% and causes the computer to freeze :S any suggestions? thanks mark

sorry i forgot to mention, my OS is Xp Pro. i have tried to reboot windows, tried cleaning registrys but no luck. Need help!
umm you could try going on start>run> then type in msconfig and press ok go to the services tab and disable some of processes you don't need from starting up on bootup hope that helps reply back if you need help although i'm no expert lol
hmm it did help in a way, except i dont know which services i dont need :| i have a total of 30 running processes but have no idea which ones i need and dont need
if theres any obvious ones stop them from starting up but a lot of those 30 you will need youll just have to look into which ones are neccessary
Usually if you have to disable services under these circumstances you have a bigger problem than too many things running. The first thing to check is WHAT is using the CPU. In Task Manager click in the Processes tab, then the CPU column to order by CPU usage (may have to click twice, might start off low to high). What is using up the CPU? On the performance tab, what is the Peak Commit Charge figure, and the Total Physical Memory? Registry cleaning... um, you shouldn't be playing with the registry, what did you do there?
